Launched in 1983 as the Frankincense & Myrrh Skin Cream, this bestselling moisturiser was designed to intensely hydrate and replenish dry skin. Frankincense, myrrh, wheatgerm and jojoba oils combine to create a sumptuous texture that deeply nourishes. A glowing review from beauty journalist Jo Fairley in the 1990s turned it into a nationwide bestseller overnight, and we had to set up a call centre to cope with the sudden demand.  

Launched in 1988, the Purifying Palmarosa Face Wash was our first facial cleanser made for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin. Powered by palmarosa essential oil, alongside nettle, elderflower and calendula, it deeply cleanses without stripping the skin of moisture. Supported by early research from the University of Westminster into the antimicrobial benefits of essential oils, this science-backed formula is popular to this day, delivering visible oil-balancing results.

This revitalising exfoliator was inspired by simple ingredients that could be found in the pantry: honey, rice powder and sunflower oil. The addition of purifying, oil-absorbing kaolin clay enhances its cleansing properties, leaving skin feeling refreshed and renewed. The scrub’s humble origins and its purifying yet nourishing formula continue to charm customers even now.

Our original cream cleanser was designed to gently cleanse daily impurities and soothe sensitive and dry skin. The key ingredient, calendula, is grown in the herb fields around our eco-factory in Dorset. Once it’s harvested, it is handcrafted into a botanical tincture which lies at the heart of this formula. Its rich texture has helped it become a long-standing favourite for those seeking an effective make-up remover that doesn’t strip away moisture. 

Originally formulated for sensitive skin, our intensive moisturiser nourishes skin overnight with avocado and wheatgerm oils, while marshmallow root soothes and comfrey restores. With its comforting texture and replenishing results, this antioxidant-rich cream is beloved for the way it leaves skin feeling softer and calmer by morning.

As the first facial oil we developed, the Damask Rose Facial Oil was created to deliver nourishment for all skin types. Soothing damask rose essence and hundred-petalled rose extract combine with nourishing organic oils to give skin a revitalising moisture boost. With its fast-absorbing texture and dewy results, this beautifully scented oil is one of our bestselling products.

Created for post-exercise, this foaming bath helps ease tired, achy muscles while encouraging a sense of restoration. Sustainably sourced arnica tincture powers this product, supported by a rejuvenating blend of comfrey, juniper and bladderwrack. Decades on, it’s still a go-to formula for those seeking recovery, relaxation and wellbeing.

The popularity of the Aromatic Massage Oil led to the creation of this beloved foaming bath. Designed to deliver deep comfort and relaxation, it features organic lavender, blended with geranium, Spanish marjoram and French lavender essential oils. This combination creates a uniquely restorative bathing experience, and fans continue to love it for its ability to transform everyday care into a moment of calm.

Part of the Neal's Yard Remedies story from the very beginning, the Geranium & Orange Bath Oil was made to uplift the senses and restore balance. Sweet orange essential oil, sourced from sun-drenched oranges, brings a bright, joyful aroma, while geranium helps create a sense of harmony with its fresh floral notes. Often described as "sunshine in a bottle", its mood-boosting scent and feel-good benefits have made it one of our most recognisable products.

In the mid-1980s, Romy Fraser embarked on a mission to source the highest-quality organic essential oils, visiting the south of France and travelling from farm to farm until one farmer agreed to sell her a small quantity to trial. In 1988, we became the first company in the UK to sell certified organic, high-altitude lavender essential oil, and we still work with the same farmer after all these years. Loved for its soothing properties, our Organic Lavender Essential Oil has remained a wellbeing essential for decades. 

Created to support recovery after exercise, our Arnica Salve combines traditionally soothing arnica and comfrey with invigorating rosemary, ginger and lavender essential oils. Its rich balm texture makes it ideal for targeted massage, helping ease tired, hardworking muscles. A firm favourite among active customers, it was even championed by one of our triathlete team members, who used it both before and after training.
