Paul graduated from Queen Margaret University, with a first class honors degree in Podiatry. During the degree Paul visited many different NHS clinics and private practices. In addition, he managed to secure a visit to Singapore general hospital to gain an insight into how podiatry is developing in another country. Paul has been able to adapt new skills from this valuable experience and it has enabled him to excel in patient care and treatment plans.
During each appointment Paul will provide preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the feet, ankle and lower legs. As a podiatrist his specialist skills focus on tending infections, ailments, defects and injuries of the foot and lower leg, as well as treating foot and nail conditions related to other major health disorders (e.g. diabetes).
Each treatment is unique to every client thus optimizing patient care to provide immediate & long lasting pain relief. He will also provide preventative care and advice on improving mobility, independence and the quality of life for each of his patients. From these assessments, he can prescribe a variety of 'off the shelf' foot orthoses (insoles) as well as giving full, clear explanations to the patient.
Prior to studying podiatry, Paul worked as a sports and remedial massage therapist in Australia, where he treated everyone from older adults, athletes, to people with chronic injuries. It was during this training and experience that he found his true passion of Podiatry.
In the year ahead, Paul is hoping to undertake further training in the use of ankle mobilization techniques on the foot and ankle. He would like to include this technique into his treatments, as this type of treatment will benefit all patients especially ones with arthritis. In addition, he hopes to do some additional courses in acupuncture, laser treatments for corn removal and dry needling for verruca treatments.
Paul is fully insured with the society of chiropodists and podiatrists and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
