Anna has been a therapist since 1991, initially training in Aromatherapy. In 2003 she began training in Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage), one of the 5 arms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) (the others being Chinese Herbal Medicine, Qi Gong/Tai Chi, Acupuncture and Chinese Nutritional Therapy). She immediately became passionate about TCM so followed it up in 2007 with a 4 year BSc (Hons) Degree in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Five Element Acupuncture. She followed this by a one year Diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture. She has continued to study TCM since qualifying and has added additional therapies such as Shonishin (Japanese Paediatric Acupuncture), Eye Acupuncture and Channel Palpation which she studied in Beijing with Dr Wang Ju-Yi and Chinese Food Energetics.
Anna specialises in treating babies and children of all ages. She also uses Japanese Shonishin Acupuncture (no needles) for treating children under 5 years. She uses Moxibustion, Guasha and Cupping as additional treatments which she incorporates in to her Acupuncture practice. She can offer Chinese dietary advice adapted specifically for each individual and Qi Gong (like Tai Chi) exercises to help in your recovery.
Conditions with which Acupuncture can help
Acupuncture can help with a wide range of physical and mental emotional conditions such as Back Pain, joint pains, arthritis, fertility issues, breach babies, painful periods, headaches, digestive conditions, insomnia, menopausal conditions, depression, anxiety and many, many more. In children it helps with conditions such as asthma, insomnia, digestive problems such as colic, tonsillitis, acne, eczema, colds and many more.
What to Expect From an Acupuncture Treatment
At your initial treatment a full case history will be taken, Anna will feel the 12 Chinese Pulses at the wrists and look at your tongue which all give accurate information about your state of health. She may palpate your Channels and will ask you lots of questions. A detailed case history enables Anna to diagnose you and to treat you as the unique individual that you are.
Acupuncture needles are incredibly fine and are not painful. The needles are left in for approximately 20 minutes and most people fall asleep. You’ll feel very relaxed after treatment. All needles are single use only and are sterilised.
Anna offers a 15 minute free consultation so you can ask Anna any questions you may have and find out if Acupuncture is for you. Or phone Anna on 07833 717319 to have a chat to see if acupuncture can help you. Anna is at Neal's Yard on Tuesday afternoons.
