Your practitioner will begin by taking a consultation and feeling the pulse of your energy flow. From this they will diagnose any imbalances in your energy system and where blocks may need releasing. The massage combines techniques from western massage: effleurage (gliding), petrissage (kneading), vibration, shaking and rocking; with other movements unique to TuiNa: compression of the acupuncture points, joint manipulation and mobilisation. Your practitioner will use their fingers, thumbs, palms, knuckles, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to perform these movements.
TuiNa massage is revitalising and energising. It shifts problems that have been stuck in your body and aids healing at all levels. It can work well in conjunction with other forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine in dealing with a range of health problems including menstrual and hormonal disorders, respiratory problems, digestive complaints and emotional imbalances.
