We're pleased to announce that in May we'll hear from Dr Andrea Mitarotonda. Andrea leads our Research & Development department at Neal's Yard Remedies, based in our eco-factory in Dorset, developing our award winning natural and organic cosmetic range.
Andrea holds a PhD in Industrial & Applied Chemistry, specialising in Colloid and Polymer Chemistry and a Diploma in Innovation Project Management. He is author and co-author of several publications spanning different aspects of cosmetic technology such as formulation, raw materials, rheology and natural preservation.
BEHIND THE PRODUCT LABEL
Cosmetic packaging can get really crowded; jars, cartons and tubes can all contain a wealth of information: INCI names, symbols, numbers, bar codes, pictograms are a way to communicate important details but can look like a foreign language to most. This talk aims at shedding some lights on these labels.
You will leave the evening with a better understanding of:
- What INCI names are?
- How an ingredient list is put together?
- Differences between USA and EU, regulation?
- What can be understood from an ingredient list?
- What is behind an INCI name?
