Latin name - Plantago psyllium
Caution:
Bulk laxative. This product must be taken with adequate amounts of fluid; otherwise they may swell and block the throat or oesophagus, which could lead to choking. Bulk laxatives are contraindicated if you have problems with swallowing or conditions likely to lead to intestinal obstruction (ileus). Avoid with abdominal pain of unknown origin. Absorption of other medications taken at the same time may be delayed - take bulk laxatives at least one hour after other medication. Diabetics: potential delay in glucose absorption. Treatment should be continued for 2-3 days if no result after 48 hours discontinue and seek medical advice.
