Would give no stars if I could. Has stained all my bikinis & clothing. Doesn't rub in & skin is white after application. Terrible product...Response from NYR on 08.12.16 'We’re sorry to hear that the Lemongrass sun lotion is a disappointment to you. Please do contact us to discuss how we can help you further. I purchased this product when it was on offer. So unfortunately I purchased 4. rn2 x SPF 50 and 2 x SPF 30 I have only used part of 1 as this product has a bad overpowering smell, greasy, its impossible to rub in without the risk of rubbing your skin off. You will end up looking Victorian with a white pasty face, arms and legs. Also is marks your bag, car and anything else you get near.rnNot recommended.rnIt amazes me that Neals Yard actually sold this product, surely they must try before putting into sale :(...response from NYR..."We’re so sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our sun lotions. Disappointed that despite assurance to the contrary the cream leaves a distinct 'whiteness' on the skin that doesn't fade away. The assistant was aware I wanted a face cream. Shame, despite usually being odour averse I like the lemongrass scent and its ease of application. rnWon't be using unless at home in garden!
I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens so always trying new mineral options, they always look a bit white, just because that's how physical sunblock works, by creating a barrier on top of skin. So that was expected. When I opened the tube for the first time sitting in the car I got a bit of a shock when bright yellow oil spilled out all over my hands and knees - the cream separated in the tube! I was fuming, used tons of tissues to clean up, and read the label which did state that you should shake it or something first. Ok, so I massaged the tube for like 5 min, opened it and the cream was ok, yellow colour, applied fine, smelled gorgeous. By the end of the day I developed dry patches and a mild allergic reaction on lips, as well as all my clothes had luminous yellow stains everywhere they touched my skin! Don't buy!
Smells yummy. Rubs in well. No adverse affects seen on my boy's eczema prone skin...the only cream found to do so so far!...and I've tried loads. Seems to protect well enough at beach and pool on mid summer days. Would recommend. Be nice if it was cheaper! :)
It smells nice but that's as far as it goes. Awful consistency & impossible to rub in without a chalky residue. Even after a good ten minutes my skin has the ghostly pallor of heaping talc all over and it's marked my clothes too. What a waste of money and I'm usually a huge Neals Yard advocate but do not waste your money on this product...Response from NYR on 21.07.16 'We appreciate your feedback. Neals Yard Lavender sun cream was the only sun cream my children were not allergic to. I bought the new lemon grass version and they are very very allergic - big hives on their faces. I don't know why they changed the formula but it is very disappointing...Response from NYR on 21.07.16 'Thank you for your feedback. I have been using this product for 3 months in an attempt to apply more natural products. I have noticed my neckline getting darker so therefor I am not convinced this sunblock is as effective as less natural products I have used in the past. Furthermore it is not easy to apply as it is a dense cream and it sits blatantly in every pore and crease rather than blending into the skin. It forms an unnatural white coat on the skin and is tough to remove from clothes that come into contact with the skin where applied. Overall very disappointed (especially as I bought 2x 150ml tubes in a buy-1-get second half price) and would strongly not recommend this product for everyday use...Response from NYR on 21.07.16 'Hello and thank you for your feedback. I have been a loyal Neal's Yard Costumer for many years, so I am totally puzzled and miffed with this product. We are on holiday, and after four days of 'battling' with the cream we have had to buy alternative products. This sun cream stains everything it comes into contact with - clothes, rucksack, even the steering wheel of the car which we have hired - so we are really concerned about having to return the car with such strange, sticky markings. After two days of not applying this cream my skin still feels clogged by a chalky, waxy film. No amount of exfoliating and washing would appear to shift it. This really feels wrong for both myself and my partner's skin. I bought this product online, and did not read the reviews. Lesson learnt there, but having read reviews am puzzled as to why this product does not bring any warnings re: staining and how the cream reacts on the skin. Where's the caring ethos Neal's Yard Remedies ? Signed: very disgruntled (and still sticky) customer...Response from NYR on 12.07.16 'Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with the sun lotion. We do place a warning on the back “Avoid contact with fabrics to avoid staining” but appreciate that you did not like the product. This is the worst sun tan cream I have ever tried. On applying a small amount to my face and arms I was left with a face covered in a white mask, flaky skin and lips and it was embarrassing to walk around. It was impossible to get off and even a day, 2 swims and 2 showers later there is still residue. My skin is feeling very flaky and dry. A total waste of £20. Do they have humans who actually tried this before putting it on the shelves?...Response from NYR on 14.06.16 'We’re really sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with the sun lotion. If you care about you're clothes, any soft furnishings you may sit on or brush against or any towels you may use after trying to shower this stuff off... DO NOT BUY THIS SUNBLOCK! IT WILL STAIN EVERYTHING, light and dark material. It also gives your skin a horrible pale yellow hue after application. I threw out both of the tubes I had bought for a trip to the caribbean.
This is possibly the worst sun cream ever !! Bought it for my kids who suffer from dry skin and this cream makes it so much worse...impossible to rub in and leaves a horrible thick chalky residue on the skin...have had to purchase another brand and am desperately trying to contact customer services to arrange a refund 😁😁
Love this product. I really worry about the safety of chemical or non-nano sunscreens so this is a great (and rare) find. Please do not stop making this NYR!!
We had a farcical epic failure with this product. If you're reading this, then you, like me, want to find an organic sunscreen that works. My daughter and I tried this product on in the shop. We squeezed a small amount on our hand and then dabbed it on our faces. 5 minutes later, we were still rubbing this chalky white mess which seemed to have multiplied.....another 5 minutes later...we were still rubbing. rnrnWe ended up using the entire box of instore tissues to try and wipe the product off as it just would not rub in. It still wouldn't come off and it wouldn't rub in. Eventually, the therapist working in the store came up to us and said that she would take us round the back and we could use her towels , cleanser and the sink to try and get the product off. Even with all that, we still had an incredible white cast which just dried like plaster on our skin. We looked like zombies - lucky we weren't going anywhere else that day. That evening, we both used a ridiculous amounts of cleanser and our hot cloth to get the remaining product off. rnrnThe sales assistant was really embarrassed and kept saying, " I think you may have used a bit much" etc . If that's true, then a tiny amount goes a long, long way.rnrnThe next day, our skin was dry and peeling from so much cleansing and rubbing.... If you are testing this product, try about 1/4 of a 1p piece - perhaps on your hand first. I'm sure it's very effective at blocking the sun though.
I was informed that this product is being reformulated to eliminate the chalkiness texture of its predecessor. Upon application, this product is an utter nuisance in that I am spending so much time rubbing it into my skin to get rid of the talcum powder effect. I fail to see what has changed. It will go in the bin, an utter waste of time and money. My advice is to steer clear of it if like me you prefer an easy life!
